Tools Used In Internet Education

Internet education came into operation back in the 1990s, when a number of reputed colleges in the US started offering courses and exams to students online. A number of online schools emerged prior to this, but people were very apprehensive because some did not have any physical origin or repute. But all this gradually changed. Today, modern education has become unthinkable without the support of internet education. In fact, an increased number of schools and colleges are incorporating computer science, internet classes and online courses in their curriculum for students to cope with modernity and technological innovation.

There are several elements/tools used in internet education. Let us explore the most important ones.

Email - this is obviously the common uses of internet education, where you do not have to post a letter and wait for its response. Instead, you can just send an email in just the click of a mouse.

Wikis - one of the most useful offshoots of the internet, these collaborative pages on the web enables anyone to edit the published content. Wikipedia can be the favorite of any student who wants some useful information about anything.

Social Networking - earlier this was used solely for entertainment purpose. But in recent times, a lot of educational institutes, scholars and researchers have become associated with the social networking platform like facebook, twitter, linkedin and so on to share their interest and activities.

Online coaching - This is a new form of tutoring students in various subjects and has become very popular among students and teachers to obtain special and additional information. There are also dedicated sites for corporate executives, teachers, government, young writers and lot more.

Research and reading - More and more people refer to the internet for completing their school assignments. Since the internet also features dictionaries and encyclopedias, it becomes easier to browse and check any information on the net than flipping the pages of the text books. You just need to key in your topic and find hundreds of results at your fingertips.

Distance learning - This form of education always existed, but the internet has changed the techniques of distance learning by offering online courses. This made distance learning more interactive and accessible.

Blogs and Weblogs - Many students, educationists and academicians have used blogs and Weblogs as a platform to raise any issue, express view views and opinions and inform others. This is one of the most effective ways of reaching out to people.

Social Bookmarking - This is helpful when you are doing educational research because it is an effective way to arrange and save web pages. This saves a lot of time and effort in searching.

Podcast - Many students use this type of file series that comes in the form of audio or video and is available through the web. It is user-friendly and gives you in-depth knowledge on a wide variety of topics.

Virtual Field Trips - As schools and colleges are cutting own on their field trips budget because of high costs, many of them are turning to Virtual Field Trips through they can travel and explore various places and activities.
